Is Rehberg Nervous?

Is Rehberg nervous about Bill Kennedy? He's certainly going on the attack awful early for someone who has been hailed as a safe incumbent.

Two possibilities:

The Rehberg operation knows that 2008 could be as rough as 2006 and since Rehberg hasn't been tested since 2000, a serious challenger with deep roots in Montana's most populous county could be a real threat.

Dennis Rehberg is the biggest jerk in Montana politics and the Montana GOP proved with their death porn mailer during the legislative session that no blow is low enough at any point in the cycle.

Keep in mind that both could be true.

There's plenty of evidence that Rehberg is the nastiest man in Montana politics.

There's also plenty of evidence that he's actually nervous. His caving on CHIP and college affordability are votes that simply weren't expected, come Hell or highwater. Good for him for voting right, but is it just because he's running scared for a change?

...is sending out garbage emails to the party faithful about Kennedy that are disparaging to say the least. The American Borat should be scared. Walking lock step with Shrub is going to prove about as beneficial during this cycle as running for Mayor in Salt Lake City as a Scientologist. I think yer right Matt, the goat rancher and his chief heard boy are in for a real fight and they know it.

He knows without a doubt that Bill Kennedy is absolutely no threat to him, for crying out loud, Kennedy couldn't beat Brad Johnson and that should have been a walk in the park. I think what Rehberg is trying to do is shore up the base while casting the net out to the unwashed masses who could slip from the independent side. Don't rule out the possibility that he's still eyeing a run at the Gov. or Max, it's early and he's trying to be a lot of things to a lot of people at this point. Iverson wants to run for something himself and you'll see him in the big game eventually, if not this cycle, down the road, but no,I absolutely believe Rehberg is not afraid of Kennedy.

Brad won by less than 9,000 votes. You never came around and started beating him up until after 2006. We all know that you are no fan. Dennis the Menace wouldn't dare take on the Good Guv or Max. We've seen how Max can gut someone. And Brian doesn't need to get dirty unless he wants to. This is not the election cycle to try and take on these two men.

Kennedy will give Denny the closest race he's had since first being elected. Denny doesn't inspire people on the right, and only motivates the left. Oh we'll see the right side cling to him like (insert something witty), but that's because it's the only thing they have.

Bill Kennedy is a political lightweight and the race between he and Rehberg will be like a 21 gun salute with water pistols. Get over yourself, you're hacked because you know very good and well Rehberg is perfectly safe. Bring on a good, solid, credible candidate and I'll rethink my position but this one is a no brainer!

I can't think of one and neither could they, thus Bill Kennedy. Who's gonna waste their time or money running against Rehberg, short of the guy running through the United States Capitol naked with his hair on fire, you aren't gonna beat him and with the exception of poor ol' Bill the D's know it too! I'm no 'seer of all things' but my crystal ball hasn't clouded over that much yet Wulfgar, it's just a big spoonful of political reality that you need to be a big kid and swallow.....Denny's your Congressman for the forseeable future, so quit your snivelin' and deal.....

And isn't that a bit of a generalization, even assuming you had made your case against Wulfgar and Mathello.

Based on Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, I could make a lot of blanket statements about the right that would be awfully unfair when it comes to some good-hearted individual conservatives I know.
