Maybe Nader should sue his ego

by: Jay Stevens

Some of you may know that I'm not a big fan of Ralph Nader, even tho' I pulled the lever next to his name during the 2000 elections. (Don't worry, I was in a state that wasn't close.) I called him a megalomaniac back in March for running in the 2004 elections, and I stand by the claim. Basically, we had a radical reactionary in the White House that need to be ousted. Period. And Nader tried to get in the way.

His latest chutzpah? He's suing the Democratic party for allegedly "sabotaging his campaign."

First, you can't sabotage what doesn't exist. Second, isn't that politics? If you have enough support, you can force way around anywhere.

I can't imagine this is going anywhere.

Oh yeah. He's planning a 2008 bid.

Third party, no help. (0.00 / 0)
Ralph Nader is a joke of a politician and his life's work as a consumer advocate is crumbling. I'm a party hack so I can't quite wrap my head around this, but what does he want to accomplish? He isn't helping his cause in anyway. Or if he is can someone let me know?

Synergy (0.00 / 0)
Maybe he can team up with Colbert to fight the party establishment.

I for one am fed up with the scape-goating of Nader. (0.00 / 0)
i voted for him in 2000, also, as a strategic protest vote here in MT knowing full well our state was going to bush.

Nader didn't disenfranchise 50,000 legitamate black voters with bogus "ineligible voter rolls" and steal the election, he didn't issue the weirdest Supreme Court Ruling in living memory to select bush, and Nader didn't cause a computer glitch that rolled Gore's vote total 10,000 votes backwards just before the Networks could call Florida for Gore based on exit polling.

My beef with Nader is that he squandered a perfectly good opportunity to get the Greens a national ballot line by spending his last month or two campaigning in swing states instead of bringing in many more votes in places like Montana and Texas, where people could have voted for him without fear of being spoilers.

Fortunatly, we live in a country where anybody who wants to can run for president, and I think it makes Democrats look bad to keep whining because somebody did just that.

The Democrats and the Republicans have done everything they can to insure that a third party/independent candidate  can only play a spoiler role by outlawing fusion voting across the country and  by impeding efforts to get instant run off voting. They have both done everything they can to limit democratic pluralism, yet when a guy like Nader decideds enough's enough, and the voters respond, even in small numbers, they scapegoat him.

Yeah yeah, Nader is a devil, he's the new Hitler, he's wrecking our institution of marriage and he's stealing our jobs.

If his lawsuit is merituos (and I have no idea if it is or isn't) I hope he wins it.
