Bill Kennedy drops out of the House race

by: Jay Stevens

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 17:01:47 PM MST

I got a letter today from Bill Kennedy:

...I have made the difficult decision today to withdraw from the race. I will not file paperwork to appear on the ballot next year, and I will no longer accept contributions.

"Recent health concerns have forced me to reconsider my decision to run for Congress. Further, I must put my family and service to the people of Yellowstone County first, and it is clear that I cannot run a full time campaign and devote the time and energy my family and constituents deserve.

I sure didn't see that coming.

Naturally this puts the House race into some disarray, but our first thoughts must go out to Bill Kennedy and his family, who are obviously dealing with some difficult times.

That's too bad (0.00 / 0)
Mr. Kennedy's a hard-working, friendly and talented public servant.  Here's to a fast recovery and a fruitful return to normal activities.

Agreed (0.00 / 0)
He would have made a great representative. Good, honest and decent representation.

The Tribune this morning... (0.00 / 0)
is reporting that Dave Wanzenried, Steve Doherty and Larry Jent are all considering the race now. Morrison has apparently said no.
I have my own thoughts on all of this, but for once will keep them to myself.

oh alex! (0.00 / 0)
oh alex you always have thoughts..and sometimes they are useful ;)

I'd vote for Dave. (0.00 / 0)
Don't know the other two, but Dave could do well.  Coming from Missoula is a little tough, but he's got the look that would connect well with everyday Montanans.  His work also helps him align with the business sector, and finally his record makes him competitive.

Rehberg is a joke.  I visited him this October, what a disappointment.  Between blaming the Bush Administration and the Democrats you'd think the Republicans were Heaven's Angels.  We gotta get him out of there.

Bill would have represented MT well in Washington and I bet he would have worked more than 3 days like old Dennis who only shows up Monday to Wednesday, must be nice.

I'm sorry too about Bill Kennedy, he had my vote. (0.00 / 0)
I'd love to find a job that you only had to work 3 days a week and spend the remainder of the time doing junkets at the taxpayers expense and calling it "work". Rehberg, Brad Johnson and the Governor have it figured out pretty well, where do you sign up? The guy I work for say 40 hours PAY for 40 hours WORK! Best wishes to Bill Kennedy for many years of better health.
