You know, today I'm inclined to agree with Bill Kristol, in this 2003 article (hat tip, ThinkProgess):
Still, the simple truth is that a great democracy like ours deserves a first-rate newspaper of record. And the New York Times isn't it.
The proof?
A day after the Huffington Post first reported it, The New York Times has announced that it has indeed hired conservative pundit, and Fox News analyst, Bill Kristol, as a new regular op-ed columnist.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I'd love to read a "serious, respected conservative intellectual" in the pages of the The New York Times, but Kristol is none of the above. How many times does this fellow have to prove himself wrong -- egregiously and humiliatingly so -- before the chattering classes realizes he's a charlatan? |
