Support for War Has "Surge[d]" to 37% in Montana

by: Matt Singer

Mon Dec 31, 2007 at 16:04:29 PM MST

The Lee poll shows that the decline in violence has caused the war to become more popular in Montana. It is now only opposed by 58% of voters.

Even better news for the GOP - 85% of independents say that Bush's job performance is poor or only fair.

The poll also shows Montanans split 50-50 on the question of whether Congress should implement a timeline to end the war.

So frustrating.

Hasn't anyone told them them that we already lost?  Sheesh!  /sarcasm

Then, (0.00 / 0)
you must believe that we are "winning"!  Well gee, that would make you what Bill Maher accurately describes in Rolling Stone as one of the ten biggest *ssholes of the year! (His words, not mine) You know, a young republicon who CAN'T/WON'T go fight in Iraq!, and prefers to let OTHERS go in their place, yet are the biggest cheerleaders for Georgie's Orgy of Slaughter for Big Oil!  Your pompoms are showing, Sentismell.

Sheesh is right (0.00 / 0)
So in a few shorts months, it'll have been 5 years since we declared victory -- far from telling them "we lost."  On the other hand, 2007 was the deadliest year in Iraq yet -- how long are you going to wait MTSentinel?

And yet, despite the poor performance at the top, and the distinctly top-down way in which Republican politics is practiced, Montana is split evenly on whether to elect generic Republicans or Democrats to the state legislature.

In fact, if I recall what I saw when looking at results from the 2006 election, Republicans pick-ups in the House generally happened in open seats while Democrats picked up by unseating incumbent Republicans. Perhaps someone (maybe the governor would be in a good position in this election year) could do a bit better job connecting the ideology of MT Republicans with that of their detested superiors.
