Ouch: People Try to Defend the Rick Jore Decision

by: Matt Singer

I'll admit, I was wrong. I thought the deafening silence from the conservative blogs was an indication that they knew something had gone horribly wrong.

Oops. It seems like the base is really crowing about Jore's appointment. Still, I have to hand it to them. Without their help, I wouldn't have found the Montana News Association's nutty story on the appointment (MNA is a rightwing fake news outlet):

Sales added that he has been receiving a great deal of positive feedback on his choice, but also negative from the "usual suspects." Speaker Sales countered claims that Jore is anti-public education with the statement: "If I thought Rick was a critic of public education, I wouldn’t have put him in this position."
Three possibilities here:
  1. Sideshow Scott Sales was misquoted.

  2. Sideshow Scott Sales is a liar.

  3. Sideshow Scott Sales is an idiot.
There is simply no way that anyone with a third of a brain and a passable understanding of the English language could look at Jore's utterances and votes on public education and conclude that he is anything other than a critic of public education.

Jore literally spends the rest of the article talking about how to get rid of the "monopolistic" education system.

Send a message. Tell Scott Sales he needs to change these appointments. Even if Scott Sales doesn't listen, we may be able to convince some members of his caucus.

Andy is out there (0.00 / 0)
Andy Hammond is too far out there to be taken seriously. I mean, he quotes the article to say that 'No, Jore is awesome', instead of looking at Jore's own stated positions and then coming to his own conclusions. He has no critical thinking skills. Either the article is lying or Jore and Sales are lying and he can't even see that.

No. He is not to be taken seriously. I know that he makes an easy target to hold up and say 'See what their side believes' because his thoughts are already like swiss cheese, but I am not sure that we are doing any favors by using him as our strawman. To make it worse, I am pretty sure that he might be mentally disabled. That will make us look pretty bad for picking on him.

So, let me see if I understand... It costs roughly eight grand a year to educate a student in public school. If the parents decide to pull their children out and place them into private school, the gov't will give the parents a grand and save seven. This is supposed to be a deal for the parents?

I went to a montessori school through several of my elementary years in the late 80s early 90s, and even back then that $1,000 would have paid for very little... less than three months.

...I still don't understand. Someone with an ECON degree please explain.

ECON degree on its way, but I'll try... (0.00 / 0)
In the pure market if there was no gov't involved private education would be cheaper than gov't funded education. But that is total BS. The market isn't out there to make our lives better. They are out there only for themselves. If the gov't wasn't regulating things like education, healthcare, and god yes even defense then the free market would boil down to what it always does... monopolies, oligopolies, and other conditions where market cooperation can over charge things like gas for $8 a gallon because we would pay for it.

The bottom line is that the best interest of the gov't is to spend more which will better of the people. If more lives are made better, then they will become more successful. That means more tax dollars to carry over to the next generation.

So now to answer your question. People like Sales and Jore don't giving a flying fig about you, me, thier children, their grandchildren, or anybody else. All they care about is themselves. It's not their job to help anybody. They are self serving, and little or nothing can change people like this.
