we protested Melcher at the Doubletree, oh so many years ago. We had the banner with the oil derrick's legs firmly planted in Melcher's cowboy boots.

One of the local TV stations video'd us, and played the image of oily Melcher over and over again as the lead in on the news (and not just in Missoula). I imagine that in some way it helped get us burned. But in those days, we weren't into playing the politics of the lesser evil.

Lesson? Get some outlandish banner of Rove and Rehberg in some ungodly pose, and make sure the TV stations get it on video. Might get some real mileage out of it!
