Edwards in Three Parts

John Edwards has a video up from Des Moines, Iowa.  He seems to get it.  Take a look and start informing yourself ridiculously early.  He has taken his message of two Americas one step further to empower American folks into changing the way that the world views us and the way that we live together at home.

Check out his blog - He gets that too (0.00 / 0)
Check out his web site.  He has a blog, a place for diaries, he has a link at myspace and flickr.  There are lots of clips on youtube.  Plus he has always been especially generous to citizen journalists giving special access to them at every venue.

The main stream media will try to actively give him little coverage because a main message of economic fairness is threatening to the establishment who consist of members of both parties and their lackeys.  He is calling for this to be a grassroots campaign that is not going to wait until the election to take action and to seize the discussion.  We need to seize the day and define the middle.  Middle America wants healthcare fixed, our jobs secure and our troops out now. We are the "radical middle" as Thom Hartmann says.

For too long the corporations have had their day at the front of the line.  They can just take a back seat for awhile.  We won't throw them overboard like they have tried to do to us, but they should be relegated to steerage while we try to steer this ship of state away from the iceberg.  Those jokers in the Washington swamp have been partying for too long as we head towards disaster.

The Senator has called for Universal Healthcare (He's deciding between two plans right now).  He wants to make Global Warming one of his very top priorities.  As he says, "It's not going to effect just the next generation, it's going to effect anybody under the age of 60."  Wow, that got the crowd's attention in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Public Financing of campaigns is on his list.  You won't hear any other candidate make that bold step.
ON IRAQ:
Get 40,000 troops out now.

First, we need to remove the image of an imperialist America from the landscape of Iraq. American contractors who have taken unfair advantage of the turmoil in Iraq need to leave Iraq. If that means Halliburton subsidiary KBR, then KBR should go. Such departures, and the return of the work to Iraqi businesses, would be a real statement about our hopes for the new nation.

We also need to show Iraq and the world that we will not stay there forever. We've reached the point where the large number of our troops in Iraq hurts, not helps, our goals. Therefore, early next year, after the Iraqi elections, when a new government has been created, we should begin redeployment of a significant number of troops out of Iraq. This should be the beginning of a gradual process to reduce our presence and change the shape of our military's deployment in Iraq. Most of these troops should come from National Guard or Reserve forces.

I joined his 2004 campaign after a long sojourn in the wilderness after they shot Martin and Bobby.  I worked in Iowa.  It was the best experience of my political life.  Since then I have remained active because of him and because of my other hero, Howard Dean.  I recommend joining up if you are discouraged about politics.  The Edwards, John and Elizabeth are dynamos.  They are insidious.  They make you jump out of bed in the morning to tackle the world.
I recommend it as an antidote to despair.

Oh, did I mention he was wicked smart?  His framing the war as the "McCain Doctrine" had the blogs all a buzz.  He wrapped that around old St. John like a big old albatross.

Yep, I am liking what I hear out of John these days. I liked him a lot in the last election but thought that he needed to be stronger. Now he is looking pretty good to me. We'll see
