Step Four: Wipe Hands on Pants

by: V

Mon Jan 08, 2007 at 13:05:14 PM MST

The Trib makes a joke this morning of Sen. Don Ryan's plea for paper towels in public restrooms.  Oddly enough, this is exactly the kind of thing that a Senator has to do to ensure dry hands for his constutuents when they leave public toilets.  I remember, one of the aged bathrooms in the Liberal Arts building at the University of Montana had factory-engraved instructions on one of the many air-blowing hand dryers in three steps.  Underneath the last step some inventive user had etched "Step Four: Wipe Hands on Pants."  No truer words ever grafittoed a public bathroom.

Works just fine (0.00 / 1)
Works just fine unless you dont live in Missoula (meaning that you do own pants other then blue jeans and courderoys).  If you are not some crazy hippie and actually own a pair of slacks that may not be the best option.

Your double negative there has really thrown me.  Does it work fine if you live in Missoula?  If you own blue jeans or courds?  If you own slacks?  What about if you are a crazy hippie?  I own slacks, but I wear blue jeans.  Should I or should I not use the papertowel option?  Do hippies wear only blue jeans and courds or is it you, down to earth fella?  Are you insinuating that I don't wear slacks and am a hippie?  Oh...and why do you hate Missoula?

Ok, so, here is the deal, what is wrong (if anything) with paper towels in bathrooms or ever more enviro-friendly the blow drying machines?

I think that even greater issue should be this:  Just dont piss or shit on your hands.

Next you will be telling us all to use recycled tampons or something.

Confused again... (0.00 / 0)
Generally, you should always wash your hands when you leave a public bathroom.  I worked as a weekend janitor for a year, and...well...just take my word for it.

Also, this post is in favor of putting paper towels in public restrooms.  Despite the joke, I think that the Trib is as well.  The government ought to choose enviro-friendly products when it can because conservation is the only way to hang onto most of what we've got now, but that really is not the point of this post.  There is a really good King of the Hill episode to illustrate when cookie-cutter conservation does not make sense.  I think it is titled "Flush with Power."

Two guys........... (0.00 / 0)
Two guys enter the restroom to pee.  One guy is from Yale, and the other guy is from the U of M.  Guy from Missoula finishes first, and turns to head out the door.  Guy from Yale looks down his nose at the guy from U of M and says all snooty,  "Well, at Yale they always taught us to wash our hands after peeing"!  Guy from U of M  turns around and looks at the Yaley and says, "Oh really?  At U of M they taught us not to pee on our fingers"!  But seriously, folks, on this particular bill, we're all equal.  We're all pee'ers!
