Random bits and pieces...

Spike Lee, Darryl Hannah, Dan Rather, Matt Modine...

The Big Tent is hot and stuffy. And, frankly, on Monday folks were a little cool. Today is completely different. Lots of camaraderie.

Ran into Cotton Mouth's Jeff Walters while getting accreditation to the Convention yesterday. Stand up guy, very cool. Walters and Cotton Mouth did a lot of work on the Travis Childers' special election victory this year...Cotton Mouth was denied state blog credentials, a decision that helped spur Matt's and my letter to the DNC protesting the state blogger selection process. Walters did get general press credentials to the Convention.

Markos Moulitsos is handing out and signing free copies of his new book, "Taking on the System: Rules for Radical Change in a Digital Era." Nice guy. Tho' that old dude whispering in his ear the whole time was weird.

I ran into George Lakoff yesterday at the Media Matters Lounge. I almost wet my pants and acted like a fanboy. Kind of embarrassing.

And, finally, check out the post I wrote for the UK Guardian's blog, "Comment is Free," on Montana's Swing Left.

As a gun owner who hunts and drives a pickup truck... (0.00 / 0)
...Can the Gov please knock it off with this type of ridiculous redneck grandstanding?

Entertaining? Sure. But a truthful representation of Montana? Not sure about that.  I mean, just how many people in Montana are really going to vote one way or another based on gun issues? Sure, there are some, but they are certainly in the minority. The vast majority of Montanans realize that this election is about quite a bit more than guns.

And did anyone catch how the state Dem chair looked on TV yesterday with his 20 gallon hat pulled down over his ears?  Come on...enough with the Hollywood-inspired cowboy culture.

Um, Matt, (0.00 / 0)
Montana is a state that elected Corndog Buns HOW many times??  I must disagree with you on this one.  Montana is NOT as sophisticated as you think.  Rednecks are people too.  And gun issues ARE extremely important to lots of people, not just rednecks.  You need to get out in the hinterlands more.  I for one LOVE what the guv had to say. But you may have a point, albiet a small one.  The guv's approval rating last time I checked was bout eighty or so percent.  Maybe if he cleaned up his act as you say, it would be ninety!
