I'd feel a helluva lot more (0.00 / 0)
Comfortable with her a heartbeat away from the Presidency than with Obama at the helm.  Really... what are you people thinking?

Clinton would have been a million times better.

And you have no argument save your outrage, do you, sydney?  What are you thinking ... ?

[ Parent ]
sheesh (0.00 / 0)
You haven't actually read anything here we've written about her, have you?

Yes, we don't like knee-jerk right-wing extremists who want to outlaw contraception, teach creationism in schools, and belonged to a Constitution-party-like Alaskan separatist movement that is openly hostile to the US. I admit it.

I'm more concerned about jobs, the economy, women's rights (or better yet, human rights), global warming, pollution, the energy crisis, and our current foreign policy crisis, for all of which Obama, Clinton, and the rest of the Democratic party have formulated good, practical solutions to.

Obama has run an excellent, half-billion dollar campaign (under budget!) across 50 states and met with various foreign leaders and has good, practical foreign policy solutions. Best campaign in history.

And with Palin you have...a two-year governor with city council experience backing up a 72-year-old with a history of recurring cancer. That is, nothing.

Playing the misogynistic card with a candidate whose stances on women's issues is misogynistic is moronic.

Actually... (0.00 / 0)
You're finally talking issues, which was what I was saying was lacking before.

As for Obama, his campaign manager runs his campaign and running a campaign doesn't make him experienced enough for the Presidency.  Just admit that he's inexperienced and that you're a-ok with that... it'd give you WAY more credibility.

Palin is for smaller government, energy development and conservative principles (much of which is reliant on Freedom and self sufficiency, something a Montanan should understand).  She's not misogynistic in the least... There's quite a bit of projection going on here- you accuse her of a certain stand on an issue and attempt to find that she's a hypocrite.  And yet, the right is far more tolerant and liberal thinking than you'd like to give us credit for.

If anything, she's a maverick and into cutting pork and putting principle and what's right ahead of party politics.. and that scares some.

As far as your "concerns" go, most of them would be better served with someone like John McCain (who's nothing like Bush) and Palin, than with Obama and Biden.  But you'll never figure it out because you're too blind and biased to see it.

the blinders... (0.00 / 0)
...someone's got them on. The principles you advocate, and for which Palin stands, simply don't work in practice. The Gingrich-era conservatism you espouse is dead. Gone. Buried. This election is the funeral, Obama your pall-bearer.

I'm sorry you haven't realized it, yet. Ditto with your MT conservo-friends who prefer ignoring or pretending our country's biggest problems -- energy, global warming, the declining middle class, a hamstrung US international reputation -- don't exist. And that's the biggest shame of this election, the inability for conservatives to actually put forth any substantive ideas this election, opting to replace substance with mudslinging and slogans from 1994. I admit liberal thinkers can't produce all of the good ideas need to extract ourselves from our current mess; unfortunately, they're the only ones doing so.

Palin's stances on reproductive freedom and sexuality are regressive. According to the early polls, her selection as VP has actually driven women away from the ticket. Is the glass ceiling broken when you achieve the top office by pandering to the conservative male point of view of woman and class?

As for your maverick, that reputation is crumbling around her as the press does McCain's vetting for him.

I might have listened to you about McCain's ability to buck his party's ideology when it came to national problems...8 years ago. But this McCain only promises to exacerbate our foreign policy problems, panders to big corporations on energy issues, and has sucked up so much to social conservatives that I don't know who he is anymore.

As for the right as a whole: I vigorously deny your claims to tolerance and liberal thinking. Yet many of the conservatives I do know are; one wonders, then, why their voices aren't heard or expressed in GOP rhetoric.

My advice to you: take your liberal, tolerant friends, hole up in a cabin for the next 20 years, and emerge with a new form of conservatism that works. I'll be waiting.

They work (0.00 / 0)
fine in practice.  They are what our country was founded on and made it great.  Progressive policies have actually been proven to fail... and fail miserably (as in they tend to kill millions of men, women and children).

I personally suspect that most progressives higher up in the food chain are behind those ideals out of a quest for power and control.  But perhaps you're just one of those well-meaning but ignorant leftists.. shrug

Doesn't matter either way I guess.

Oh, and you can complain all you want about McCain.  I don't like him either.  It's not a positive presidential choice for me.  I'm voting for him, but up til now I have refused to actively support him.  So you can get off your high horse, Jay.

Seriously (0.00 / 0)
That is such hooey! No real Clinton supporter is going to be voting for that. People who supported Clinton did so because of what she stood for. The only thing Palin has in common with Hillz is a vajayjay. This is a stupid and ignorant pick for VP. If anyone thinks Hillary Rodham Clinton is going to stand by and let this "woman" take the torch they got another thing comin'.

Barry and Joe '08!! Yahoo!

If Palin doesn't help McCain... (0.00 / 0)
Then why don't you all ignore her?  Your reaction is based on fear.

She actually shares nothing with HillDog.  Is Hillary even a woman?  I didn't like her comparison any more than you did.

BTW (0.00 / 0)
We usually react to the stuff that p*sses us off, not that what scares. 'Cause frankly, right now, not much "scares" me in this race.

[ Parent ]
Likewise (4.00 / 1)
I'm not scared. I'm pissed! It pisses me off that McSame thinks he can patronized Clinton supports with the worst... possible... female... Republican... ever... You heard it here first, folks; Sarah Palin sucks!

[ Parent ]
And I love (0.00 / 0)
that she pisses the left off.  Obviously she's doing something right!!  =D

Scared, pissed... whatever.  You're scared and PISSED that she could turn it towards McCain.  Niiiiiice.

- Keeping the Left honest since 2001

[ Parent ]
Something very "right" (0.00 / 0)
She ain't doing shit for McCain. The only way Palin can ride on Clinton's coattails is if she allows it. Umm, hell no. No matter how people might think Hill is feeling over this it'll be a snowball's chance in hell before she let's someone like Palin hop on board.

I'm also pissed because I wanted McCain to take someone decent down with him. Oh well...

[ Parent ]
Polls aside, (0.00 / 0)
She's really energized everyone, though I'm not certain yet why.  Of course she's nothing like Hillary, nor is she "riding her coattails."  If she were like Hillary, she wouldn't be on the ticket... She'd still be some second rate Senator hoping that her husband's fame will take her to the top.  There are a lot of other things I could say about HRC, but it gets tiresome to catalog her many faults and wrongdoings.  sigh

And polls in the past have been shown to be less than perfect.  Not to mention, people aren't elected to the highest office by polls- it's all about the electoral college.

- Keeping the Left honest since 2001

[ Parent ]
That's funny (0.00 / 0)
I don't remember typing anything about polls. Oh well.

Coattails: "determination and grace in her presidential campaign" and also some BS about 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling. She's dropped the reference since, but, yes, they were there. My point is simply, how dare she? How does Palin do something like that. She's a humanoid who happens to have a vagina. I haven't read anything about her that makes her a "woman" in my eye. And yes, my ideal woman is a commy lezbo from Berkley.

[ Parent ]
Someone mentioned (0.00 / 0)
that Palin hadn't helped McCain and sighted polls.

That's what I was referring to.

- Keeping the Left honest since 2001

[ Parent ]
Actually, (0.00 / 0)
She is doing something for John McCain.  He's slipped 2 more points back in the polls just in the last 3 days.  And every day that goes by brings a new revelation of just how poor a pick she really was.

She actually shares nothing with HillDog.  Is Hillary even a woman?

Nooo, there's nothing misogynistic in that statement at all ...  Way to make your case , sydney.

Then why don't you all ignore her?

Why don't you just ignore that we all find her to be a bad political joke at McCain's expense?  After all, if'n we're all just

"blind"
"scared"
"biased"
"laughable"

what do you hope to gain with your desperate pleas here, sydney?  An old boss of mine (on a pig farm, no less) used to say "There's no sense trying to put clothes on a pig.  All it does is make you look foolish and annoy the pig."  Seriously, sydney, your desperation to defend McCain's disastrous choice of running mates to those folk 'round here is making you look really silly, and you shouldn't be surprised that it's as annoying as all get out to us.  (And before anybody jumps in with the inevitable, keep in mind that I really like pigs, more than some of the people I've met for certain.)

what drivel you write, so don't bother.

reaction = outrage (0.00 / 0)
It shows that McCain would rather win than lead the country. That's exactly the kind of politics we're trying to get away from with Obama.

Hilarious stuff! (0.00 / 0)
The funny thing is, a lot of people are going to buy into this "hockey mom"...PTA go'er...moose stew eating...snowmobiling, gun toting, woman...they'll say "hey, she's fisty, and she isn't one of those Washington DC elitist"...and they will buy into it because for the most part people are tired of the same ol' same ol' and she is so far out there..it's just like American Idol...the average person can rise to the top!
