The Montana League of Rural Voters has endorsed Sen. Lane Larson for re-election in SD 22 and Shirley Baumgartner in the open seat in SD 18, two Democrats in extremely competitive races.
From the press release: In Senate District 22, which extends East of Billings to just West of Miles City, the group has endorsed incumbent Lane Larson. "Lane proved last session that he wants to preserve our rural Montana way of life by sponsoring the legislation for stream access for fishermen," said Richard Parks, a board member of the organization and owner of a tackle shop in Gardiner, MT.
In Senate District 18, which covers a huge part of Northeastern Montana, the group has endorsed Shirley Baumgartner. "Shirley's roots are deep in the agricultural community of her district," said Dena Hoff, a farmer in Glendive, MT. "When we spoke to her we were impressed with her ideas for ensuring a secure future for the families of rural Northeastern Montana." These appear to be the only two endorsements the organization has made so far in the Montana Senate. |
