The Obama Tax Cut Calculator

by: Matt Singer

Tue Oct 21, 2008 at 08:46:35 AM MST

This is smart. The Obama campaign just posted a tax cut calculator to let people figure out whether they save more in taxes under Obama or McCain:

Turns out, I save more under Obama. And, for the record, I do pay federal income tax.

Isn't this....... (0.00 / 0)
the  same tax cut calculator Bill Clinton used before he raised all our taxes?

I went through the tax cut calculator until I got to the part where they required my email address and zip code before I could continue.  Needless to say I ain't giving my address to no stinking community organizer.  Next thing you know he'll be sending scavenger hunters around and hiding Easter eggs in my yard.

Possibly (0.00 / 0)
It's too bad Bush didn't have one for his tax plan so you could know exactly how much he's screwing you. Oh well.

I'll know.... (0.00 / 0)
just how much Bush was screwing(saving) me if and when Obama is elected.  Hopefully that won't happen and I'll continue to get "screwed" by tax cuts instead of Obama/democrats giving me their version of tax cuts(increases).

Congrats, squid! (0.00 / 0)
If you got a Bush tax cut then you are doing really well for yourself. Keep up the good work.

Didn't know that (0.00 / 0)
the deep blue sea had a zip code. And I'm not surprised that you wouldn't want to give Obama your "sharkbait@deepsixed.us" email address. In any case, we wouldn't want to have you confused by facts.

Okay.... (0.00 / 0)
since I'm confused by facts, please tell me when was the last time a democrat gave us a tax cut?

In case you've forgotten, (0.00 / 0)
squidster, in 1997 Clinton signed a major tax cut into law. And Obama's centerpiece of his tax proposals is a tax cut for 95% of Americans.

But then again, if you're one of Joe the Dumber's friends, you'll believe McCain's propaganda and vote against your own economic interest.

Clinton cut some taxes in '98, I believe (0.00 / 0)
I'd have to double check the year, but there was a second-term tax cut for sure.

Since there hasn't been a Democratic President since then, that's the best answer I can give.

Please, folks. (0.00 / 0)
Squid is confused and ignorant enough.  Let's not confuse him further with weak truths.

One of the things that has chapped my ass for 30 years are Presidential candidates making promises that it is not in their power to deliver, most especially tax cuts.  Those are controlled by Congress, not the White House.  Yes, Bill Clinton submitted and signed a tax cut passed by a Republican Congress.  But those actual facts will only be waffled on by folks like squid to appear that it was the Republicans who gave him a tax break, and evil Bill Clinton really wanted to raise his taxes ... just like OBAMA!

Uhh, no and no.  What the dim squid ought to be asking himself is which Presidential candidate can accomplish his promises.  Barack Obama with an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress, or John McCain with, I guess, only Joe LIEberman.  But, for squid to actually approach the question from a position of seeking the facts, he'd have to admit that his ignorant bias towards cliche has already blinded him to any facts.

Sorry, Woof Woof,... (0.00 / 0)
but I don't remember realizing any tax relief from the Clinton tax cut of 1997.  Must have been one of those "Tax cuts for the rich" the democrats are always harping about.  How's that for a cliché and here's a couple of more.  "The republicans are going to throw you out of your old folks home into the street".  Or "the republicans are going to cut your social security benefits".  You want cliches the democrats have oodles of them.

I do, however, remember getting it stuck to me big time as the result of the Clinton tax increase of 1993.

Now, concerning Obama's plan to give 95 percent of us a tax cut, when he is elected, while sticking it to the other 5 percent.  Do you really believe that hogwash?  I'll tell you what, if you'll answer the Obama pop quiz I posed to you a while ago, I'll  turn over my share of the tax cut for the payment you requested for answering the questions.  Hopefully it will be enough to cover the going hooker rates..Deal!!!!

Well duh, squid! (0.00 / 0)
If you got money from a Bush tax cut then you won't get money from a Clinton tax cut. Do the math, old man!

[ Parent ]
You mean.... (0.00 / 0)
the democrat math where an increase in one of their boondoggle programs is a cut?

[ Parent ]
Democrat math? (0.00 / 0)
Who's the last president to have balanced the federal budget? Clinton.

Under which president has the national debt doubled by 5 trillions dollars? Bush II.

Under which republican administration did deficit spending become the norm? Reagan.

Which president uttered "Read my lips, no new taxes." Only to turn around and raise taxes? Bush I

So go take your neocon talking points squidster and be done with them.
