Everyone spending time on doors or phones, what are your stories?

We're still finding some hard R's out there, but surprisingly, we're finding a ton of crossovers. Traditional Rs who are voting D, sometimes in a lot of races.

Anyone have any particularly moving stories?

Support Local Candidates (0.00 / 0)
I just wanted to remind people to remember your local candidates in these last few days.  Obama's GOTV effort is massive, but the swing voters we are turning out may not be informed about local races.  Make sure to get informed or get some literature to answer any questions.  Remember the mess of last session?  It will only be worse if the crazy Republican leadership wins the Montana Senate and forgets their meds at home.

One surprise for me (0.00 / 0)
I was talking to our excavator, the guy running the backhoe on our job site.  He asks me who I'm voting for. Oh-oh, I think, do I really want to get into this now?  But I point to the back of my pick up truck at an Obama bumper sticker.  "I've always voted Republican but I'm voting for Obama, too," he says.  His motivation is strictly economic, he explains.  But still, this is a good sign.

'Twas the night before elections (0.00 / 1)
'Twas the night before elections
 And all through the town
 Tempers were flaring
 Emotions all up and down!

 I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
 Had cut off the TV
 Tired of political crap.

 When all of a sudden
 There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
 Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
 They wanted my pay
 To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

 He snatched up my money
 And quick as a wink
 Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

 He then rallied his henchmen
 Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
 To tear my country apart!

 ' On Fannie, on Freddie,
 On Biden and Ayers!
 On Acorn, On Pelosi'
 He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
 On this one final note-
 IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
 GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

talked to a good republican today (0.00 / 0)
talked to a good man today in rosauers who has been a republican all his life. he's 69 yrs old and retired. he volunteers and helps out in the community. said he will vote for obama. said he is ashamed of the right wing taking over the republican party and is hoping that a big loss this election year will get the republican party back to sensible centrist thinking. he hopes for complete defeat so that the right wing nuts (his words) who are currently  running the republican party can be ousted and he can get his party back again. this man is no radical. he just wants reality based government. he says that bush has strayed from reality so far that it will be difficult to get the country back to normal but he trusts obama more than mccain to bring real change to the country. he laughed when i asked if he felt obama was a socialist as the far right wing is parrotting. he said that if anything he is a little afraid that obama may be a little too cautious and centrist. although he would not want a left leaning agenda either. he trusts obama to be reasonable and to make the changes we need without going overboard.

United we stand, divided we fall.

power to the polite people!
