Good guv: I won't be anybody's secretary

As the cabinet positions are named, one-by-one, the Interior position is still vacant. That post, of course, is where the buzz swirls around Brian Schweitzer. Heck, this blog has noted that Schweitzer could still preside over this legislative session and then slip off to DC with hardly a stutter step.

Schweitzer continues to deny any interest in the Interior post, saying, "I like being outside too much to be an Interior Secretary." Heh.

Schweitzer has long been a high-profile guy among the netroots, and his splash at the Democratic National Convention got some attention from Democratic stalwarts across the country. The question is, will the Good Guv ever cash in on this adulation? And if so, how?

Feel free to speculate wildly.

Vice President (0.00 / 0)
Joe Biden was a great pick for VP. He's great with foreign policy, and is incredibly experienced. Two issues: He's old, and he's Washington. In choosing a VP, Obama has a responsibility to pick an heir apparent. Someone who can serve after him when he, hopefully, finishes 8 years from now. (knock on wood) If Joe Biden serves as Vice President for two terms he will either be 73 when running for president or we will again have an open seat with no incumbent. So why stick around for two terms? He's served this country incredibly for 40 years. He can retire in 2012 and let a very popular and very successful Barack Obama pick a running mate that can carry his banner for the next decade. My pick? Brian Schwietzer!

Schweitzer a good pick, but I am selfish (0.00 / 0)
Schweitzer is the right pick for this post.  He is from the richest energy corridor in America, the West.  He has the experience of developing alternative energy, wind, biofuels, and traditional energy that must be carbon neutral.  He also has a vision with hybrid electrics, check out this piece I saw in Forbes magazine.  He also has the gusto to stand-up to the big oil and coal companies.

But I want him to stay in Montana.

You are a bit overly optimistic (0.00 / 0)
In thinking that we'll get a budget within one legislative session, no?

...or that we won't have a special session (0.00 / 0)
to do across the board budget cuts. I hear of gleeful republican hand wringing, already, just waiting for the opportunity.
