Dan McGee wrestles with his fantasy life

by: Jay Stevens

Wed Apr 01, 2009 at 08:09:00 AM MST

"Lovely" bit of rhetoric from Helena:

It is truly unfortunate that the big business of killing babies has so persuaded the Democratic Party that they will disallow the people of Montana the opportunity to express themselves on this extremely vital issue," [Dan] McGee said.

I can't figure it out -- is McGee a liar or deluded? Seriously, the belief that people support women's reproductive rights because they're beholden to some monolithic baby-killing corporate industry is...weird, to say the least. But then this isn't McGee's first foray off into unexplored territory, is it? I guess someone has to fill Roger Koopman's shoes...

Update: In the comments, Allyson pointed out even more hysterical rhetoric from McGee:

McGee said Republicans attempted to work with Democrats on these issues but it did not seem to take. He also compared abortion with slavery and predicted an upheaval comparable to the Civil War. "You bet there will be," McGee said.

That's right! McGee's going to protect the "sanctity of life" by killing people that don't agree with him!

Unbelievable.

There's a better quote (0.00 / 0)
Jay, there's a better quote from McGee in this story.  He's been claiming a civil war is imminent.

McGeek is simply........ (0.00 / 0)
following the lead of the Nutty Pervessor, Booby Nasalsound, who declared this war loong ago.  And after being challenged on it, the Nutty Perv whizzed backward quicker than Perfesser Prudence Jurass can spot porn!  You see, Nasalsound did the most amazing contortions arguing that THAT is not really what he said.  McGeek is simply a dumber version of the Nutty Perv.  And BTW, what BETTER way to incite the lizzard brain camo christeean troops to war than the old  babies-on-a-bayonet theme!  Worked like a charm in Kuwait, and McGeek is hoping it'll work in Montana!  Thank GOD that these morons are also supreme cowards.  Nasalsound for sure, and I doubt McGeek, ever served in a real war.

But again,  I challenge McGeek to show just WHERE in the Bible is the prohibition against abortion.  It just ain't there, yet these morons advocate violence to stop it.  Bad form.

p.s. (2.25 / 4)
The BEST way to shut up a**holes like McGeek is to simply say that if any abortion provider gets murdered in your little "war", YOU'RE the NEXT casualty!  Works like a charm.   For you see, then McGeek is investing something besides simply bullshit.  'Course you have to tell him when no there are no witnesses around.  This gives an a**hole something to think about, and provides him some perspective.

I agree with Jay. (0.00 / 0)
Threats crosses a line here.

Besides, Crusaders don't fear death.  They have the protection of the Almighty.

[ Parent ]
Yes but, (0.00 / 1)
Crusaders make pisspoor martyrs!  They're just too cowardly.  And THIS particular crusader is an ignorant, cowardly bully who is inciting his ranks to do violence against innocent people operating legally.  You  see, I take McGeek's threats very personally. I am pro-abortion. If he's going to send someone to do me or someone I know harm, (my wife's a nurse), I will surely hold HIS ignorant ass accountable.  And let's be clear.  There ARE them rightwing folks out there willing to murder and bomb abortion providers.  You see, me and God, we tight!  Retribution is his AND mine.  It's just an eye for an eye.

er... (0.00 / 0)
Larry...I think that crosses a line...I don't folks need threats; that's McGee territory...

McGee hears voices (0.00 / 0)
During McGee's testimony at the legislature he claimed more than once to be the voice of the unborn.  He is hearing voices allright.

Many equate saving (0.00 / 0)
Babies from death to ending slavery.  It's a closer comparison than when PETA does it with chickens and the holocaust.

He's not advocating killing anyone, but I suppose you can interpret it any way you want.

Oh bullshit, sydney. (0.00 / 0)
Read much????  Don't even PRETEND to be so damn ignorant of the violent christofascist movement in this country.  Or are you REALLY that ignorant?  When McGeek says "civil war", he MEANS war!  And when the Nutty Perv Nasalsound longs for a Harper's Ferry type attack, he MEANS a violent attack!  And the LAST time I checked, PETA was NOT attempting to institute a theocracy in this country.  BUT, since you seem to be a little fundie apologist, I assume that you are  also a Biblical scholar. SO, syd,  please cite chapter and verse from the Bible just WHERE it indicates that abortion is an offense punishable  by death! Or even an offense! Now, syd, what we got here is Onanism.  And THAT is punishable by death.  You and McGeek are simply chokin' your chicken all OVER the place in public.  Oh, and syd, maybe you'd be so kind to extend your scholarship and explain just WHEN life  begins according to the Bible and all the OTHER great religions of the world. I  think you'll be suprised to actually  find out. You and McGeek should just give your chicken a rest!

Theocracy? Violence? (0.00 / 0)
LOL

I'm not Christian Right, but then I'm not scared of them either.

I really think you must be writing comedy... or attempting to.

(And no he doesn't...)

And many are terribly full of shit (0.00 / 0)
Aren't they, syd?  (Bringing up PETA here is the picture perfect definition of a Straw Man, kitten.  Try something else, if you can.)

The fact is, McGee has called directly for the instantiation of slavery into the Montana Constitution.  There can be no other interpretation.  The man wants slavery, and so he uses the fear to get what he really wants ... slavery.

I Go to Laurel (0.00 / 0)
To visit my grandchildren who are beautiful and charming innocents who breathe dirty air, don't have access to parks, libraries, museums, bike paths, Head Start, or public transportation.  Economic opportunity there basically left the area when the unions did so the people there aren't in a position to just buy all that stuff on their own.

I have not checked Senator McGee's stance on the Children's Health Insurance Bill that Montanan's overwhelmingly voted for, but I do know that I helped gather signatures to get 1-155 on the ballot at the same time other parties could not find enough signers to endorse the anti choice bills McGee is pushing now.

It seems only logical to me that anyone who cares about life and children would work to make their life better; I don't see that in Senator McGee's actions.

Who or what is he trying to represent anyway?

So if children don't have all the finer things in life, (0.00 / 0)
Then they shouldn't have access to life at all?

What's the point?  I grew up without bike paths and head start, and I dare say so did many of the rest of us.  Who cares??

"Who cares??" Way to sum up the belief system of the new right in two words.

Way to debate, Jay.

I'm seriously waiting for an answer here.  If children don't have access to bike paths, head start, museums, and libraries, does it mean they shouldn't live?  So is she saying we should put to death all the children in the slums of the third world?  Is that the only indicator of quality?  I would disagree.  Quit relying so much on material things, Jay.  Happiness doesn't arise from the spending of money.

That's what I mean about "who cares"... What I mean is (and you know exactly but are choosing to misrepresent me) ie. who cares if we are not all rich.  I'm not rich, neither are my children.  We are not unhappy because of it.  I would never have aborted my children because I wasn't materially rich.

If children don't have access to bike paths, head start, museums, and libraries, does it mean they shouldn't live?

Er, don't remember ever saying that.

But I did benefit from a lot of infrastructure as a kid. My mom was a librarian and spent a lot of time in libraries growing up. I went to public schools. I played in my town's Little League on my town's baseball field, and biked on my town's roads to practice.

But even if what you say wasn't true, that I grew up without any amenities like libraries and bike paths, etc, that's hardly a reason to deny my kids those things. I would rather leave the world a better place than I found it.

Seems like just because we can deny any improvements for the next generation doesn't mean we should.

Read above me some... (0.00 / 0)
I was saying "who cares" to an earlier comment by "Carla" who opposes McGee's stand on abortion because he's not for increasing CHIP... then she went on some rant about bike paths, and the like.  My comment was directed at her.

You jumped on my "who cares" comment.  You should probably read the whole thing before taking what I said out of context.

She was implying that you shouldn't be pro-life unless you could give children everything in life, I don't agree.

The topic? (0.00 / 0)
The topic of this debate was Dan McGee, wanting to get the issue in front of the voters wasn't it?

I agree that it should go in front of the voters, but looking at the way the issue has fared in other states I doubt it'd pass, even in a traditional State like Montana.

Be patient Conservatives - remember a few years ago when gun bills were a Democratic hot-button?

The Abortion issue will go the same route eventually, as soon as they renew their playbook.
