Waterboarding is torture

by: Jay Stevens

Thu May 28, 2009 at 07:06:13 AM MST

Radio host denies waterboarding is torture. Radio host submits to waterboarding. Radio host calls waterboarding "torture."

And, remember, this guy submitted to this voluntarily. Which makes it quite a bit more comfortable than having it done against your will...

That's pretty much how I was feeling.

Mark T, if I haven't addressed the history of American abuses over the last 300 years it's because I'm interested right now and here in waterboarding and the treatment of detainees during the Bush administration. Sure, you can argue the US had done bad things, but I'm interested in the fact that the Bush administration essentially created a legal and political framework to openly and aggressively go after political enemies. This represents a monumental shift in policy. That's what I'm addressing.

I don't really want to go down the rabbit hole of the entire history of US foreign policy, or I'll probably quickly degrade into shrieking hysterics and end up sounding like a Nader commercial. Besides, you've got that ground covered. But don't assume that means I'm "complicit," or "ignorant," or whatever other paranoid term you want to come up with.

Anybody watch "The Torturing of Democracy" on Bill Moyers Journal last Friday? (0.00 / 0)
Well worth seeing what's up.
