WANTED: Montana health care stories for TV ad

(This is pretty important stuff, so I wanted to keep it on top of the page. If you or someone you know has a good health care story, please pass it on to Adam... - promoted by Jay Stevens)

Hey, folks. This is Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. I typically blog at OpenLeft, but am a longtime fan of Left In The West and wanted to ask this community for some help.

You may have seen our recent TV ad in Nebraska with DFA, elevating the voice of a local small-business owner who wants Sen. Ben Nelson to give his family the choice of a public health insurance option. Well, it made tons of local and national news -- and folks continue to chip in substantially to help us keep it on the air in Nebraska.

We've since gotten many emails asking us to highlight a similar voice in Montana. We're up for it.

If you have a health insurance story, or are just a strong supporter of the public option, could you let us know at this link?

Also, if you know others with stories -- or local Republicans who support the public option -- please ask them to sign up.

Mike Snider, the restaurant owner who appeared in the Nebraska ad has said he's had lots of people come in off the street to shake his hand. Elevating one voice allows many voices to speak out. Any help you can provide in finding the right voices is most appreciated. And thanks to all who are working so hard on this issue.

Instead of running ads that prey on reflexive emotionalism, how about ads that call for responsible re-engineering of the healthcare delivery process?  See:  http://online.wsj.com/article/...

The doctor's point is overlooked in all the hype.  As I have said before, I am in favor of a dual path approach that studies the healthcare delivery/treatment process separately from the financing.  Sort the good from the useless, and prioritize.  Then examine the interplay -- harmony vs. disharmony between the two processes and make reasoned, rational choices.

And again I add... (0.00 / 0)
what about the reason out whole health care system exists? For the patient!

You would take the patient's story out and replace it with one of purveyors and financiers.

What ever happened to the good old American notion of customer service--the customer is always right?

Craig points to exactly what is wrong in the American health care system: it is no longer patient-centered and has become dominated by those who provide services, those who pay them, and those who profit from ti to the neglect of the patient.

The American people are sick and tired of hearing about "the healthcare delivery/treatment process... the financing." It is out of comprehension for most of them (congress included). What people need is a simple system that they can understand and comprehend:

"You need health care? Just go to your doctor and get it."

It's called single payer.
