The Indy: "Despite evidence to the contrary, Barkus maintains he wasn't sloshed that night, and his attorney says the blood alcohol reading is flat-out wrong. Let the courts decide that, but we'd like to at least hear Barkus acknowledge some accountability for launching his boat onto the shore and putting his passengers in harm's way."

This comes as no surprise, but the American Police Force backed out of the Hardin Jail deal. But wait! Other companies have been asking about Hardin's facility. The question is, how are Harding officials going to top their last trick?

Rehberg wants you to transport your firearms on Amtrak. Tester and Baucus back the bill, too.

Remember the Missoula doctor who was tackled by police after refusing to leave the side of an armed, suicidal woman? A federal judge ruled the officers used unreasonable force.

It's official: Americans don't think much of their health care. So...all this talk about not wanting to lose  insurance is really just fear of the unknown? Crazy...

Grist's David Roberts and his seven reasons for optimism about the Senate climate bill.

Wulfgar! reminds the righties that it wasn't politics that ousted Rush Limbaugh from the ownership group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams, it was free market economics. Dude would have hurt the business. After all, most folks find him offensive and ludicrous, kind of like a swollen and evil Pee Wee Herman.

Tom Schaller posts New York's undercover videos of gun show dealers fragrantly violating the law on background checks. Schaller: "It's truly amazing how much disconnect there is in post-9/11 America between guns and the monitoring of everything other security-related behavior. I flew two weeks ago and forgot to swap my regular-sized toothpaste for the travel size and had to surrender it at the security gate, of course. But if I just tell a private gun dealer that I'm not a felon--c'mon, dude, do I look like a felon?--I can get myself a semiautomatic."

And here's the totally awesome unauthorized Bob-Jaffee-for-Missoula-city-council YouTube video:

Bob Jaffee really is all that. He's the bomb. Vote for him if you live in Missoula's Ward 3. Otherwise, just wave "hi" as he zips by on his bike.

Amtrak firearms transport (0.00 / 0)
Jay, you failed to mention that both Dem senators Baucus and Tester voted for the amendment.  See:  http://www.freerepublic.com/fo...

Amtrak (0.00 / 0)
The firearms Amtrak ban is quite odd.  I was very glad to see our Senators voting the right way on this.  A nice, bipartisan, common sense measure at work.  I would rather ride the Amtrak than fly anywhere.  But, as of now, I will not step foot on the Amtrak due to this ignorant law.  I never travel without a firearm.  If one can transport them on airplanes, surely a train shall work.  I realize the main argument; unlike a plane a train makes frequent stops.  However, the argument is not for concealed or open carry, but for a locked case in proper storage.  I have transported, numerous times, firearms on an airplane.  Actually, it is a sure fire (pun intended) way for them NOT to lose your bags.  Amtrak wouldn't cause that many differences either.  If you fly to New York, before you can pick up your baggage, you must prove you can have your firearm there.  Amtrak could have very similar policies, and increase their passenger list.

hey! good to see you back! (0.00 / 0)
