Tamara "Tammy" Hall Makes No Sense

by: Montana Cowgirl

Thu Feb 04, 2010 at 17:01:42 PM MST

Tamara "Tammy" Hall, the ultra-angry, ultra right-winger in Bozeman who pens an occasional column for the Bozeman Chronicle and is supposedly a "motivational speaker" for a living, has written a hater-piece about the Governor this week. She compares him to a rat, calling him arrogant, and using the favorite new accusation of the right wing: that he is a "celebrity" (talk about desperate).   It's probably for the best that the column doesn't appear online, as I'd hate to have to link to it.

The interesting part about Hall, and the small handful of angry, downwardly-mobile types that pay any attention to her, is that Schweitzer recently got the endorsement of Newt Gingrich and the Wall Street Journal. I don't care much for Newt or the WSJ's Stephen Moore who wrote the editorial, but Schweitzer did deserve the credit because he made the  decision, when the state was flush with cash, to save money rather than spend it.

(And Schweitzer is probably the only politician in the last fifty years to get praise from the WSJ while advocating a Canadian Health System.)

Nevertheless, the continuously manic and angry Hall may have become delusional as well, and should check the label on her medication. Because if she is calling somebody a tax-and-spend politician when they have just gotten praise from Gingcrich and the WSJ for being fiscally responsible, she probably needs to up her dose.

Tammy makes no sense? (0.00 / 0)
You just now figured that out?   ;-)

She was lauding the Governor several short weeks ago for his stand against tennis courts.  Her greatest ... charm? ... is that she is most internally inconsistent.

Huh? (0.00 / 0)
You don't think the governor is arrogant?  I mean - you might not like the word-choice, but arrogant far from fails to to be a long list of descriptive words for the guy.

Celebrity?  That's another one....who, pray tell, loves the camera and a show less?  Anyone here in Montana? Any other politician here in Montana?  Because I'm drawing a blank.  Feel free, though, to correct me.

Just as there's plenty to praise the guy over, there is certainly more than just a few things to be critical over.

Complaining about someone calling him things that he actually is...well, that's pretty funny.  Some might say overly defensive.

And seeing how the Good Gov's operated over the last 6 years or so in the public limelight?  I'd say he probably laughed at the column, thinking "any press is good press."

OK, you've spouted, (0.00 / 0)
NOW SUPPORT YOUR SPOUTING!  List just five examples of the governor's arrogance, or STFU!  Can you do it?  I don't happen to think that Schweitzer is at all arrogant.  Confident yes.  Unafraid yes. Terribly intelligent yes.  These are good qualities sorely lacking in many Dem politicos.  But arrogant?  No.  I think that it's YOU who has the problem.

And how bout some contstructive criticism.  How can the guv be less arrogant?

Thank you Larry. You are right. (0.00 / 0)
I think jkljgirl is confused.  It's the media that loves the Governor.  That what's called political talent and prowess.

I have followed Schweitzer's career from the beginning. (0.00 / 0)
I was there when he declared to run in GF against Burns.  I liked him immediately!  He was a fighter who took the fight to Burns and damn near did the impossible.  He damn near dumped an incumbent on nuthin' but guts and charisma!  My GOD he was a breath of life into the Dem party in Montana that heretofore had been cowed into submission from getting beat up repeatedly. And into this scenario steps a gunfighter with a heart.

Look, Schweizter IS charismatic.  Is that so bad?  Some people confuse charisma with arrogance.  Schweitzer's charism IS the gift of politics and all that entails.  That's what he does.  And he's damn good at it.  He uses his charism for the benefit of others.  That's what a charism is for.  There's no higher purpose.  And there is definitely no shame in that.

So, when he gives a blockbuster speech, when he makes the news, when he gently humiliates his opponents, remember that he does this out of passion, compassion, and conviction.  This is not arrogance.  It's just the proper use of one's charism!

I wish the Dems had a hundred just like him!  Then we'd have ourselves a real party!

Actually, Larry (0.00 / 0)
I can give you 3 right off the top of my head, and they're pretty egregious instances of arrogance, indeed.

1)  The "turn the dials" comment at the Trial Lawyers convention.  At worst, he was admitting to election tampering (I don't believe that but Hall and the Republicans sure do.)  At best, he was claiming credit for Tester's victory.  That's pretty damned arrogant.

2)  His behavior last year after the explosion on Main Street, here in Bozeman.  I won't go into specifics, that would take way too long, but you won't find many city officials here who would hesitate to call Schweitzer arrogant.

3)  His arrogance in flying a state funded plane into town (Bozeman) to lecture the City Commission on how they shouldn't spend money in the manner that Schweitzer himself signed off on - twice.  The true arrogance of that were his repeated attempts to paint himself as a simple citizen of our town, the Bozeman common man, before every single journalist he could force his face in front of.

To be honest, I think you and jhwygirl are arguing over nothing.  His arrogance is part of his political strength.  To say "I'm good enough to do this" is confidence.  To say "I'm better than you" is arrogance, and as it turns out, necessary for being an effective Democratic politician in a state that leans slightly to the right.

Boy (0.00 / 0)
With the Schweitzers having good friends like you asking for "just 5 examples of the governor's arrogance," I'd say the guy doesn't need enemies.

LOL.

Politics ain't beanbag! (0.00 / 0)
One of the toughest old coaches I knew used to say  that he prefered a kid "with some snot in his nose".  I prefer politicos who are tough.  Why?  Because they are going against some real sleazeballs in the Pub party.   The Pubs absolutely love it when the Dems run shrinking violets who wilt at the first signs of battle. I want Dems who don't cut and run. You call it arrogance.  I call it relishing a good fight.

[ Parent ]
so why were you bitchin' (0.00 / 0)
That I agreed with him being arrogant?

Did you even click the link? Look at the synonyms?  The antonym?

You and Cowgirl took it as some sort of punch, meanwhile I doubt Brian would of even blinked at the suggestion.

I only speak three languages. (0.00 / 0)
Sorry for my deficiency.  BTW, how many do YOU speak??????

[ Parent ]
Problem is... (0.00 / 0)
that we FINALLY get a Dem with balls who actually HAS the balls to unashamedly and forcefully advocate for a Canadian-style health care system, select a Republican for a running mate, and take on all comers, and people label him "arrogant"!  Sorry, but I ain't buyin'.  I think that jgirl has NO concept of Montana history. Let's continue to find the most bland, milqtoast, baucusian candidates we can find to run just as we have ALWAYS done here in Montana in the past.  We wouldn't want to offend the Pubbies.  Oh HEAVENS no!  Never that.  There's nuthin' scarier than an angry, half-wit wackjob!  I mean, look at Dopey Rehburp when he gets fired up!  Now THAT'S scary.

p.s.  I THINK that I have a pretty good idea what arrogant means W/O girlie's link.  Now THAT'S arrogant to post a link to a word like arrogant!  Think about it.  Guess that people were a whole lot smarter where she came from!!!

Whatever happened to the "Environmental Ranger" (0.00 / 0)
in you, Larry?  Or are you OK with gold mines in Lincoln and coal pits in the Tongue?

[ Parent ]
Absolutely not. (0.00 / 0)
But Schweitzer never ran as an environmental candidate.  BTW, there is no gold mine on the Blackfoot nor will there ever be, and I seriously doubt that there'll be a mine on the Tongue River. It's not economically viable. But those are indivual fights in a larger battle.  Equally as important as the environmental fights are the fights for good government and taking care of the people of the state.  ie. education, health care, etc.

And Jed, Luckies??  I prefered Camel straights.  Now those were good ciggies!  Fortunately, I quit after a few years of smoking.

[ Parent ]
There will be, Larry (0.00 / 0)
There will be.  They're up there now.  You didn't know that?

[ Parent ]
No, I didn't know. (0.00 / 0)
Can you provide a link?

[ Parent ]
And 7up Pete (0.00 / 0)
could always be developed when some alternative leeching methods are developed. If there's gold in the ground--and there is gold in the ground up the Blackfoot, and a bunch of small gold mines--somebody will figure out away to extract it.
