Try turning off the sound (0.00 / 0)
and just watch the body language and overall imagery.  A TV ad is more about the visual than the spoken word.  In my opinion, this ad will not influence Montana voters outside a committed base of supporters.

i agree (0.00 / 0)
this ad shows a person who is uncomfortable in the public eye. his lack of expression will not inspire anyone. the lawyerish personna portrayed here makes him seem cautiously logical with no political charisma whatsoever. *lame......

he may well be a fine person who could do much more for montana as a congressman than the ultra lame rehberg but rehberg doesn't need to do anything to get elected again. gernant is woefully devoid of any electability for this office. he might do well in a legislative race but he will need to project more personality to even do that.

*not nearly as lame as the ridiculous dennis mcdonald ads, but lame just the same.

Just plain awful Pbear (0.00 / 0)
If Firehammer was behind promoting this ad, he should be fired.  There is no Montana connection binding voters to Gernant in this spot. It actually drives the opposite reaction.

Not so fast. (0.00 / 0)
Put him on a horse.  Get him a nice cowboy hat. Put some cattle and a few mountains in the background.  Have him quit shaving for three days. (He CAN grow a beard, right?) In other words, Marlboro him up a bit.  Maybe a fake scar or two.  And have him listen to Conrad Burns's speeches   to improve his elocution. And most importantly, slip the word "gun" in the dialogue somewhere, like "I'm fourth a generation Montanan and I have the guns to prove it".  And then, you might HAVE something here!

Seriously though, I didn't think it was all that bad.  He's refreshing because he's NONE of the above.  And that's a change I can believe in.

not saying he might not be ok candidate larry (4.00 / 1)
but if this ad is what tyler is going to pin his hopes on, i don't see many votes here.

no charisma at all.

I hear ya. (0.00 / 0)
But ya know, I'm kinda tired of the show horses.  Let's try a work horse with brain and ethics.  It just might catch on.  Now, the thing he really needs to do to get my vote is to take it to Dopey mano a mano.  Start throwin' punches now, body punches and don't let up.  Put Dopey on the defensive and don't let him breathe.

Again, I can't help but like the guy.  Sure, he's got the charisma of a gopher, but I would  trust him to be my attorney.

Larry, that was funny (4.00 / 1)
Whether the ad works depends on the target audience.  How many McDonald voters from rural areas will this ad bring to Gernant's side with a city slicker "Missoula" image with a matching message?

I liked it (0.00 / 0)
Small business, affordable housing...expecting more from our congressional representation.

All stuff to like.

I also like how he's not afraid to face straight up his youth. Shows guts.

I liked it too... (0.00 / 0)
I like his other ad that he released today even better.
