Rehberg's Taxpayer Funded GOTV Campaign

by: Matt Singer

Mon Jun 07, 2010 at 11:44:46 AM MST

My friends in DC tell me this isn't illegal, but it is mind-boggling. The day before an election where Congressman Rehberg is in a 3-way primary, his Congressional office released this email to their newsletter list. An email from Congressman Rehberg urging people to get to the polls when he's got challengers from the left and the right in his partisan primary.

I've never seen this level of interest in GOTV from a Congressional office. I certainly didn't see it in last month's school board elections.

In unrelated news, Tyler Gernant picked up Jay's endorsement below, James Conners' support in the Flathead, and just sent out an email by popular Missoula Mayor John Engen.

My read right now -- Gernant has momentum and energy. It ain't a ton, but it beats the rest of the field by a country mile. I'd make a small bet that he pulls off this primary tomorrow evening -- a victory that will be newsworthy for his age and the fact that McDonald should have this in a walk.

A small bet? (4.00 / 1)

OK Matt -

Just for giggles - I'll take you up on it -

I'll take McDonald in the Dem primary - and for a wager, we'll make it a Pork Chop sandwich, and a glass of beer at Pug Mahons in Billings - heck if I end up buying, I'll make it a few beers -

Whaddya say?

Rehberg's little problem (0.00 / 0)
Denny has won time and again by not engaging with anyone who challenges him.  So far, those challenges have only come from Democrats.  That isn't possible this time because he's being called out by his own party; French from the right and Otjen from the rational.

I think Denny might be a little in over his head, at least to what he's used to.

he's also all over the KBLG Northern News Network today. (0.00 / 0)
The supposed "news" story (an obvious free Rehberg commercial) is that Rehberg is only on the appropriations committee to stop all those people out there fighting to raise your taxes.  He got a min and 40 seconds every news break today on the subscribing stations (owned by Taylor Brown.)

I will not be shocked (0.00 / 0)
If Dennis Rehberg is back to ranching subdivision lots come 10 p.m. tomorrow night.

His laziness might just bite him in the you-know-what this time around.

I just hope he is turning out French fans (0.00 / 0)
