Rehberg skipped 3 votes to tend to political fire in Billings

( - promoted by Jay Stevens)

Here's a fact that Dennis Rehberg probably hopes you won't notice: He skipped three votes in the U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday evening, July 13.

Why?  Apparently he thought defending his lawsuit against firefighters in Billings was more important that day.

See the roll calls for yourself (scroll to the bottom to see the list of representatives "not voting"):
*Vote 434
*Vote 435
*Vote 436

Whatever these votes were about doesn't really matter.  As Montana's only representative in the House, we pay him to vote when there are votes to make.

The bottom line: On Tuesday, Dennis Rehberg put his own political problem over the job he is paid by taxpayers to do.

That's worth remembering, isn't it?

Flashback: Primary Election Day, June 8th (0.00 / 0)
From the June 9th Billings Gazette:

...Rehberg for helping sponsor a fundraising golf tournament in Maryland on Election Day where participants, including oil, financial and insurance company officials, each paid $1,000 to play golf.

"That says more about how out of touch he is with Montanans," McDonald said.

In response, Tyler Matthews, Rehberg's campaign manager, said the congressman stopped by a fundraiser for a Louisiana congressman he supports.

Rehberg was in Washington on Tuesday because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., scheduled votes...

"He was there doing his job, which Montanans elected him to do." Matthews said.

...hypocrisy of liberal bloggers... (0.00 / 0)
The highly hypocritical liberal bloggers attacking Denny Rehberg for being in D.C. on June 8th only to attack him now for being in Montana talking to Montanans. The hypocrisy only rises to a new level when you consider that both Senators Tester and Baucus have missed votes this year. Matt and Jay made not a peep at those absences.

The hypocrisy of the left astounds me-except that's what I have come to expect. The simple truth of the matter is that the far left on the internet criticizes Congressman Rehberg for missing votes to speak with constituents. Only a few weeks ago, Matt and Jay's friends were upset that Denny was in DC to vote. The simple matter is that Denny has missed .6% of the votes in this congress.

On the North side of the Capital Senator Max Baucus has missed.7% of the votes in this congress. Where are the accusations attacking Baucus for missing votes? For that matter Baucus missed votes regarding Veterans Health Services Act of 2009, S1963 stripping all funding from the UN, the Confirmation of a Federal Judge, and Sen. John Thune's Amdt #1030-reducing TARP Debt.

Let's go further... The left will love this. June 2, 2008 Max skipped the cloture vote to allow the vote on Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008. Baucus also missed a vote in March of 2008 that would have given additional funding to Indian Health Services. Max regularly misses votes, and many of those votes are bread and butter Democrat issues. We hear not a pin-drop. Mad Mouth Matt, Penn State Jay, and the rest all stay quiet.

Looking around the region, we see that Democrats Walt Minnick (Idaho) have missed 1.3% and Stephanie Herseth-Sadlin (South Dakota) has missed 1.9% of their votes. For that matter Denny has an attendance record in the top 7% of all members of the house.

Denny's .6% of votes missed are nothing compared to Rep Hilda Solis who has missed 75.6% of her votes. Denny also has a 'stark' contrast to Rep. Pete Stark who has missed 22.1% of his votes.

Not a peep from the left. None... That's because they only apply litmus tests to the opposition-turning a blind eye to their own. Democrats wanted to change 'business as usual' to bad Montana Smear Machine didn't get the memo.

thanks for the honesty... (0.00 / 0)
...by posting your name. It's not often people even remotely associated with a campaign or an organization like the College Republicans leave their name when they spam blogs with campaign research material, etc & co.

Jay,
I am not afraid to use my name. My association with the Rehberg campaign-supporter.

I have always posted under my name. I did the research my self for this post. Much like you and Matt when you post.

Hope Penn State is treating you well.

Really misses the point.  The point isn't that Congress-persons miss votes.  It's that Rehberg missed votes in a lame attempt to defend himself against an unconscionable legal action.  He's not performing his duties due to what is solely personal interest, and attacking his constituents while doing so.  There is no hypocrisy in pointing out the stupidity and perfidy of such action, lest you can show others doing that same thing.

The rest of your comment, William, flows directly from the same ridiculous misdirection.  This isn't about missing votes, or litmus tests or any of the other crappola you wish to apply to the "they're as bad" whining form of argumentation.  It's about not doing your job so you can defend yourself for suing the very people you work for.
