.. At least for now.

Greetings.  I am Rob Kailey.  I will be your host this evening, and hopefully for some time to come.  Matt and Jay have offered me an admin position here at Left in The West; a position which, with no small amount of trepidation, I have accepted.  The effort to keep this blog active is ongoing.  Though Matt and Jay are irreplaceable, hopefully myself and others can continue to provide you greedy fiends the content you crave.

Kindly keep in mind that I am only an administrator here, and a neWb at that.  I'm still trying to figure out the bells and whistles (Hey, Matt!  what does this BIG RED button do?) and all patience would be appreciated.  As time goes on, we'll see about providing a wealth of quality writing for you.  Relevant and insightful diaries are appreciated now possibly more than ever.  Given the rather decisive conclusion to the last cycle of shouting, it should be the perfect time for a rematch.  What say you?

So, belly up to the bar.  The next game is about to begin ...

Sure would have hated to see this site die.

they couldn't have picked a better person (4.00 / 1)
to administer this site. You will do well as the 'Boss' bro and your agreement to continue to run this site will ensure that it will not pass away. There is a whole new batch of lefty bloggers just looking for a place to present their veiws.

Thanks for that (4.00 / 1)
I have no desire to be the "Boss". I'm just here to grease the gears.  And I desperately want 'the left' to show their colors, proudly.

OK.. Wheel greaser.. (0.00 / 0)
That title will work as well as any. I am just glad you decided to take the reins and keep this site going. Of all the Montana Left bloggers, I can't think of anyone better suited for it. You have always been an inspiration for my blogging (as well as other stuff...), Bro.

Glad to see the site continue (0.00 / 0)
I am definitely glad to see the site continue...Even tho as an Independent that is socially progressive, but enviromentally and economically more conservative than most that post here, I seldom post but do lurk !!!

It has been a good site to get the rest of the story on some issues and/or give me an idea where others are coming from in their thinking...

Thank you Rob (0.00 / 0)
For keeping this site up and running and moving forward.

Good luck! (0.00 / 0)
Some mighty big shoes to fill, there, Rob. Glad you decided to take it on. I'll see if I can't come up with an article or two to help out. I've often felt that what 4&20 is to Missoula, LitW is to Montana. And I got back into poliblogging by sharpening my wits against Matt and Jay, and their "entourage" of commentarians years ago. Being a lifelong observant and participant in Montana politics in a variety of ways, I sometimes have an idea (or brain fart, as some others have been known to observe) that is more pertinent here than over at 4&20, so we'll see how it goes. And as always, I thoroughly enjoy bashing in the comments the idiocy on the right that passes for conservative idiotology these days.

Good on ya' (0.00 / 0)
Rob -- now that I can call you by your real name -- sure appreciate you stepping up to stop this blog from disappearing.  With the Republican whomping from last week, we'll definitely find ourselves needing each other more throughout the progressive community. Having lived through the total Republican domination of Montana before, we truly have our work cut out for us and, believe me, it will be daunting.

I know. (0.00 / 0)
Daunting.  In truth, it scares the shit out of me.

Thank you.

i ain't askeered a nothin' or nobody.... (0.00 / 0)
in fact, i look forward to the next legislative session.....

vote pass veto... vote pass veto...vote pass veto.............

the failure of the two party system to address the real problems of this state and this nation will become all the more obvious.

No fear here (4.00 / 1)
P-Bear - I ain't askeered a nothin' or nobody either...but you're sure putting a lot of faith in that veto pen.  I foresee horrific energy development legislation coming out of the next session and, sorry to say, some waiting hands in the gov's office.  There's simply no reason to believe otherwise given the policies we've seen so far.  And I hate to say it, but the House already has a veto-proof majority at 68 Rs.  The Senate doesn't, but you wouldn't want to believe all those Ds are in any way against turning Montana into an energy colony for the nation.  Remember, only one Dem from Butte voted against deregulation...Dan Harrington, bless his soul and courage.  When I lobbied for the tribes, I picked up the moniker "Smiling Badger" and while we ain't a shaking in our boots, it's prudent to carefully and objectively assess what we're facing, sharpen our claws and teeth and then get down to it.

until employment levels approach 6% no party is safe.... (0.00 / 0)
i simply mean that republicans are again on the hook to fix the bush crash. we'll see what happens. but i don't think we need to be overly concerned about this session. with all these first term lawmakers i don't see much of substance even getting started correctly much less passing both houses and getting a signature.

the hourglass of public patience is running out of sand.

I wish (0.00 / 0)
P-Bear, I wish you were right, but in truth, you don't have to know anything to get bills drafted.  All a legislator has to do is put in a bill draft request with what he wants to do -- just a title or concept -- and the Legislative Services Division bill drafters and attorneys do the rest.  Bingo, all the stuff you need comes popping out as a bill and you're off to the races.  And don't worry, when these tidal events occur, it doesn't take logic and experience to get the bill passed -- just the right letter after your name for the majority and something the leadership isn't opposed to.
