| I am exhausted, but you must know that a group of conservatives including Annie Bukachek and her husband Roland Horst orchestrated a "gotcha" event on Monica Lindeen, the state commissioner of securities and insurance, and her staff during a presentation of a documentary about investment fraud in Montana last night. Somewhere in the middle of the video Annie left the room and not very subtly or quietly re-entered wearing a Derek Skees T Shirt. During the discussion afterwards, Annie Bukachek made some inference about corruption in the Auditor's office. The name Harris Himes erupted and inferences may have transgressed to accusations, Roland was filming the events including the others pointed questions about second hand accounts of former employees.
I believe that Monica handled the situation well, acknowledging their behavior, accounting for the facts, explaining that the courts would be the decision maker about the guilt or innocence of Harris Himes as well as turning the mike over to her employees if they were the more appropriate person to answer someone's question.
One gentleman got angry, I think he identified himself as a licensed CPA and told the disruptors that they were wasting his time. A disruptor said something about free speech, the man yelled at him to 'quit wasting my time' applause followed before the meeting resumed.
When the meeting was over, Bob Lopp, I know him as head of the Flathead Audubon board and Husband of well respected business woman Jane Lopp who does a lot of community service, admonished Annie Bukachek that he couldn't believe Derek Skees would stoop to that level.
I also had words with Roland about their role in trying to stop people from getting healthcare, and I lost my composure a couple of times. I should tell you that I have been friends with Roland and Annie for a lot of years. I was at their wedding, they were at my baptism; we have had better times in the past.
I was quite disillusioned with Annie and Roland during the 2010 election when they told untruths about Candidate Mary Rekin, writing that she was uninformed although Mary was out listening to people every day to get a feel for what was going on from in people's lives. I believe that is called bearing false witness, not the best thing for Christian warriors to keep repeating.
I understand they are passionate about their cause, but lying and playing dirty to stop people from having self determination and a safety net if they choose are just creepy values to me. |
