Governor Brian Schweitzer on the potential "Constitutional Crisis" facing Montana:
Most people don't care about Lance Armstrong getting stripped of his "wins" in the Tour de France. But if Rick Hill gets more votes, because of his brazen criminal conspiracy of a campaign, it will matter what happens when his "theft" of the election is held to account.
The most likely and worst case scenario, is that Senate Majority Leader Jeff Essmann could become governor. This is a lose, lose for everyone in Montana.
Republicans hate Jeff Essmann for his record on taxes and his nanny state focus. They also hate him because when he isn't opposing Republican ideals, he's being so counterproductive that he hurts his causes.
Independents hate Jeff Essmann for his focusing on overturning the will of the voters as part of an attempt to make a statewide name for himself (in Billings he's a laughingstock).
Democrats hate Jeff Essmann because he's insane, literally rejecting reality time after time after time.
And good government watchdogs are still talking about the Republican speculation, "that Essmann was forced from the race after the Hill campaign discovered a scandal."
No matter who you are, you'll lose if Jeff Essmann becomes governor. This is why Essmann polled within the margin of error of zero when he ran for governor. Nobody can stand the guy. But Rick Hill's brazen corruption means there's a real chance Jeff Essmann could be governor.
