Bringing Back a Tradition

by: Matt Singer

Fri Nov 09, 2007 at 15:22:57 PM MST

Last year, Craig of MT Politics and I partnered up to launch a project to raise money for the Montana Food Bank Network.

I thought we could use a similar effort this year. I've tried emailing Craig, but I'm not sure I got through his spam filter, so I'm posting this publicly here. Anyone interested in joining an effort to raise money for hungry families here in Montana, let me know. Either shoot me an email, post in comments, or write on your own blog (and I'll try to track it down).

You didn't hear this from me, but... (0.00 / 0)
I would first check out what percentage of  your donation to Montana Food Bank Notwork will actually get to the tables of the hungry in Montana.
4% is my guess.

Good Guess, Idiot (0.00 / 0)
Actually, in 2006, they distributed 9 million pounds of food to Montanans, with 87% of donations devoted to programs, rather than admin or fund raising, which is a remarkable number for a charity.

What exactly did you do?

are you sure about that, Dear Heart? (0.00 / 0)
or are you quoting their numbers? and I would prefer to refrain from using derogatory language. I think an impartial audit would surpise many people.

4&20 will love to help out Matt (0.00 / 0)
but I may seem some assistance putting up the donate link.

This is an excellent cause.

I rise pretty early in the morning to walk the pooch - and throughout the 'hood I can see that some of my neighbors are picked up for their morning breakfast meal.  I have one who is so ill that his meals are delivered.

There are many around us that live on such limited incomes that they can't afford food

Hopefully all of us Montana bloggers can come together to do this.
