Mike Huckabee, serial rapists, and Clinton Derangement Syndrome

by: Jay Stevens

Wed Dec 05, 2007 at 09:57:40 AM MST

Just when you thought Mike Huckabee was looking good, Murray Wass drops this bombshell on his campaign:

As governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee aggressively pushed for the early release of a convicted rapist despite being warned by numerous women that the convict had sexually assaulted them or their family members, and would likely strike again. The convict went on to rape and murder at least one other woman.

His "Willie Horton" moment? Hardly. Huckabee was personally and actively involved in the release of Wayne Drummond, despite receiving letters from women who had been sexually assaulted by the man, and who warned the Arkansas Governor that "he would rape again - and perhaps murder - if released."

So, why would Huckabee advocate the release of a man known to be dangerous?

Clinton Derangement Syndrome.

Who would have thought that running on a "freedom for serial rapists" platform would come back to bite you?

So, first Rudy's past catches up with him and now the Huckster implodes just as his star is rising. Being a top-tier Republican presidential candidate is kind of like being the Star Trek extra who beams down with the regular cast members. He thinks this is his big break but you just know he's going to die before the episode is over.

Should've stayed behind on the ship, Mike.
