House Dems Pass Iraq Spending Bill with Withdrawal Deadline

by: Matt Singer

Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 12:54:11 PM MDT

Well, they did it. The U.S. House narrowly passed a bill (most Dems and 2 Republicans voting for it) to put a deadline for withdrawal. Bush is already threatening to veto. The problem is that it is a spending bill, so it's the way that Bush can afford the war in the first place.

Anyways, nice job. Now let's see if our friends in the Senate can get it passed there.

I really hope that you know what this is.  If you dont see this as a voting record scheme with zero hope of becomming effective, Ill send you a check to get back into classes.  The Senate cannot over come a veto, not to mention even get the votes to pass this.  Its a well thought out scheme for some more "talking points" for 2008, and beyond, but please dont expect this one to do much.

I would hope you would be a little unhappy about this political waste, and chest pounding, but then again, what else is a blog?

-that was a rhetorical question, but I always welcome your "sharp" and "whitty" little comebacks, of course supported by your little "goon-squad."

I don't see it that way.

You need my address?

I think you're right. I think were a veto not assured, many votes would have changed.

Can you tell me why Baucus and Tester (0.00 / 0)
voted against Senator Sander's Property Tax Relief to fund special ed?  Only 11 Dems voted against it.
