Matt Singer: Letting the Chips Fall

by: Matt Singer

Mon May 24, 2010 at 18:00:08 PM MST

Clearly, not everyone shares my sense of humor. This is now the second post I've deleted in my time writing since some people did not understand that this was a joke. Just that. Nothing more.

BCS declares surprise winner of WWII

by: Jay Stevens

Thu Dec 11, 2008 at 09:55:42 AM MST

Okay, this isn't politics, but it's probably the funniest thing I've seen in a while:

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work-including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule-our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Read the whole thing. It's hilarious. And France was ranked #2!

In the meantime, here's wishing the Grizzlies good luck in their match against James Madison tomorrow night. College football playoffs rule, don't it?

Fox News punk'd!

by: Jay Stevens

Thu Nov 13, 2008 at 18:59:48 PM MST

Dig this:

It was among the juicier post-election recriminations: Fox News Channel quoted an unnamed McCain campaign figure as saying that Sarah Palin did not know that Africa was a continent.

Who would say such a thing? On Monday the answer popped up on a blog and popped out of the mouth of David Shuster, an MSNBC anchor. "Turns out it was Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, who has come forward today to identify himself as the source of the leaks," Mr. Shuster said.

Trouble is, Martin Eisenstadt doesn't exist. His blog does, but it's a put-on. The think tank where he is a senior fellow - the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy - is just a Web site. The TV clips of him on YouTube are fakes.

The funny thing here is I was bombarded by emails linking to Eisenstadt's videos for weeks before the election. It was pretty obvious the whole thing was a ruse. The funny thing was "Eisenstadt" was able to infiltrate McCain operations across the country...but it was so over the top, it seemed patently obvious the dude wasn't who he claimed to be.

Dang, and I hadn't realized this guy was the same as the "source" of the McCain campaign "leak" about Palin's intelligence and knowledge. Nice going, Fox News!

Kickin' ass, takin' names, Jimmy Carter style

by: Jay Stevens

Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 08:06:23 AM MST

It was bound to happen. Jimmy Carter is pissed (parental guidance advised):

Oh, what's that I hear? The weather's all screwy? You got a global warming problem? Boo-fucking-hoo! I was telling you morons to turn off your lights and unplug all your shit at night to conserve energy in 19-fuckin'-75, for chrissake. Gee, I wonder what woulda happened if we'd all switched to solar power like I fucking did back when we had a fucking chance to do something about it. Think we'd still be sucking Saudi Arabia's dick like a five-dollar whore?
